Hormones and Autism

Hormones and autism... Masking for a short duration gave me time to relax. Life had gotten a little to chaotic. I needed time to calm without constantly being assaulted by emotions and sensory triggers. I would have preferred to slowly let my protective walls down but my body had other plans. Oh the joys of being a woman. Once my cycle started my hormones took over and ripped the mask off. Going from numb to riding the emotional roller-coaster again is intense. One moment I'm happily singing and dancing with my daughter then BAM, anxiety hits and I can't breathe. With it being caused by a hormonal imbalance there is nothing you can do but wait it out. How many other autistic woman out their have difficulty coping during their cycle? Have you found anything that helps you calm? I make a tea from reshi and turkey tail mushroom with a bit of dried motherwort and milk thistle. It tastes absolutely horrid but does take the edge off the hormones a bit. Wishing you all the best. ❤️ 🫂 ❤️ This is Me - Jeni Curtis Be You
