Sound of silence
Sound of silence by Disturbed
Sound of silence
(autistic community version)
Hello darkness, my old friend
You’ve come to visit once again
I saw you there slowly creeping
I feel it whenever I try sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
And the sound of silence.
In voiceless days, I walked alone
Broken streets of sharpened stone
Felt like I was going insane
I turned my collar to the cold and pain
As my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
In fight or flight
Held in the sound of silence
But in the distance, I saw
People, thousands, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing always listening
People writing words that voices never shared
And no one once
Questioned the sound of silence
I spoke “Oh you get it, you all know”
Silence, it made my heart grow
Hear my words that I might reach you
Take my hand, know we are with you
And my words, in concrete they will fall
As I break out the walls of silence
And the people that felt the same
Shouldn’t ever feel no shame
A sign should flash out a warning
In the words that it was forming
Then the sign said, “We are different, don’t judge or help us fall”
“No not at all”
Respect, the sound of silence
All my best and love
Ross
