I have mentioned before what a school environment can be like for an autistic child. Unfortunately that can apply to the neurodivergent community in general.
I have been asked what I would change but to be honest there is too much I would change. I would literally need the opportunity to start from scratch and build from there.
In 2011 Jamie Oliver was in a TV show called Jamie’s Dream School. I actually really enjoyed that program and thought there were several things he got right. So I’m going to be bold and ask you, Jamie, if you are willing to do a second series with my involvement. Include neurodivergent and neurotypical staff as well as pupils with the idea of making a truly inclusive school environment which is safe and really conducive to learning for all children. It’s a massive undertaking but I have lots of ideas I can discuss with you and suggestions for others to approach to get involved … if you do decide to take me up on it.
