What is “Hyper-focus”?
For me it’s this, being drawn into something very deeply in a short space of time.
I use creating to refocus and recenter when needed. All these images were created in the last two days (aside from The Clerks one, that was created for the “Worth a Bob” summer giveaway we have starting next month).
Hyper-focus applies to anything where you can combine conscious and instinctual focus on the same thing, at the same time. Consciousness and instincts work in tandem, with access to instinctual memory banks. Your instincts offer up the information and your consciousness guides. It is possible to process a huge amount of information in a very short time period. Sensory information that is unwanted can bring you out of hyper-focus, so isolation may be needed for some individuals. One thing that is important is a calm and safe environment, somewhere you feel comfortable. Because you can't access it if your instincts are busy. It requires mental engagement and your instincts to be settled.
In my opinion it is best to use hyper-focus in short bursts if possible. It can be too easy to fall in to burnout if you don't take time for your mind and body to recharge.
