How do you know Ross?

We met in a shared house in Inverness. Had a common interest in Sci Fi, especially Quantum Leap and even came up with the idea for a potential movie, with Tim Robbins as Sam and Robin Williams as Al.

How long have you known Ross?

Since 1996.

I would have been 18 at the time that I moved into the shared accommodation that he lived in.

Have you seen any difference in him since you met?

Obviously, he’s older, and poor fellow has to use sticks following his broken back. However, I have seen him more determined now. He knows what he wants and he is passionate about spreading the word about autism, which I find admirable.

Did you know Ross when he was masked, and if so what was he like?

He was, and still is a nice, genuine person. Looking back the signs were there but I just put it down to his fun, goofy nature.

What do you think to mylifeautistic and what Ross has done since unmasking?

I’m very impressed by what he has done for raising awareness.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Brave people come in all shapes and sizes. It’s the people you don’t expect to make an impact, who actually do, makes it all the more astonishing. Through the adversity of not only breaking his back but becoming unmasked, Ross should shine as an inspiration to all, not just the autistic community.

All our best and love

Today’s post is from someone that I knew long before I unmasked. We lost touch for a while but reconnected when I was in Inverness last year, when I was staying with my aunt and uncles. I was worried at the time that they wouldn’t understand scripting and what being masked really meant. However that wasn’t the case, instead he said that I should close the door to the masked chapter of my life, because I’m on to a new one now. It was actually really reassuring, because I knew he remembers a lot more memories, and scripted conversations than I can recall.
