Recently we put out a post talking about the mylifeautistic back to school project. We had hoped to trial an education system that had mental engagement, and personal focus at its core. Looking at the potential to do that, this summer. The area of this that I couldn’t account for was the paperwork required to go ahead. Insurance implications and things like that. I genuinely don’t understand that part of the word so I needed to get advice.
We created a proposal and sent it to our contact within the Scottish government. A few days later we discussed it over the phone. The conclusion was that it just wasn’t possible within the time frame we had. However, they were very interested in supporting the project, so this is what we decided. The mylifeautistic Back to School project will go ahead next summer. They will ensure that the required paperwork is filed in plenty of time and reach out to other Scottish Members of Parliament. This is to give the opportunity for educators and neurodivergent people in education across Scotland (and possibly England as well) to get involved. It will be augmented reality schooling, with a physical location, but an intertwined online element.
We have a lot of work ahead of us, but we will get to attempt to create a school setting from scratch. Looking at adaptive education that is individually focused. I definitely think that is the way forward, and actually mirrors thoughts Albert Einstein had on education.
“I never teach my pupils, I only provide the conditions in which they can learn.”
“Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.”
“The only source of knowledge is experience.”
“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.”
Long story short, the mylifeautistic Back to School project will go ahead in summer 2024.
All our best and love

This is going to be my last post for this week. Jeni may post near the end of the week, as she was working on a post last week.
I am going to end this week’s posts with an update about the Back to School project we wrote about, recently.
My job over the next few months is that I have to look into Digital Curriculum, a project that the BBC was working on to digitise the current curriculum (and that my mum worked on). Not to follow the standard education system as it is, but so that we can enquire about using elements of it in the Back to School project.
In September/October we will put out a post…
