Virginia Woolf was quoted as saying “Every secret of a writer’s soul, every experience of his life, every quality of his mind is written large in his words”. It is in this spirit that I created the list below. I have cross-referenced multiple websites and online lists to try to put together the most complete list of autistic authors I can. I haven’t read any of their books so I can’t personally recommend any.
Given that autistic and non-autistic people see the world in different ways, books by an autistic author could give a window into our minds. For example, if you view ‘Alice in Wonderland’ as an autistic person’s view of a world they don’t understand, it becomes a very different story.
